As a member of the Enrollment Management Division, this position serves as manager of financial aid information and processing.   Assists students in completing financial aid applications based on their unique circumstances.  Administers various forms of student financial aid including federal, state and institutional program funds for the College's student population.  Assists with award processing, disbursement and compliance monitoring and reporting.  Responsible for auditing and reconciling financial aid accounts and packaging financial aid awards.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Coordinates all processes related to loans.
  • Assists students and parents with completing financial aid applications.
  • Provides financial aid counseling to students and parents
  • Packages and new and returning student awards.
  • Monitors returning students for satisfactory academic progress
  • Communicates complex information effectively, both through group presentations and one-on-one advising situations.
  • Participates in student orientation sessions.
  • Monitors Perkins and institutional loan delinquent accounts
  • Provides exit counseling.
  • Assists in coordinating annual Datatel set-up.
  • Handles confidential work with tact and discretion.
  • Attends state and federal meetings and workshops as necessary for professional development.
  • Maintains close liaison with Admissions, Registrar, Business Office, Human and Organizational Development/Payroll, Advancement Office and Information Technology.
  • Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Manages annual reviews of Loras College Financial Aid website and net price calculator.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in business related field.  

Experience:  Previous work experience in a financial setting, preferably in a college/university environment.

Computer Skills:  Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.  Competency with complex software applications, specifically database and web-based tools.

Other Requirements:  Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines.  Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, parents and other college employees, using a teamwork approach.  Ability to think creatively to improve processes as it relates to our students and families' experience. Fluent in Spanish preferred.
